Third parties umbrella services allow clients—through a intermediary— to access the services of a freelance consultant or an IT service company not listed in the client’s approved supplier panel, but that the client has identified and wishes to collaborate with.

Payroll Management services, on the other hand, provide a status that allows freelancers to work as independent consultants, similar to a self-employed person, individual entrepreneur, or president of a simplified joint-stock company (SASU). This status offers freelancers the benefits of employment while preserving their freedom to choose and carry out their missions.

Independent consultant can work through companies offering third party umbrella services when they are not listed and choose payroll management services if they prefer not to set up their own structure.

The solution to work with externally payrolled consultants

A freelancer working through a payroll management services is a freelancer who does not create a company to carry out services.

As freelancers they independently find, negotiate, and execute their assignments.

The payroll management company provides them with an employment contract – making them employees – and handles all administrative aspects with the client (service contracts, invoices, etc.).

All activities can be performed under an payroll management company arrangement, except for regulated professions (i.e. doctors, lawyers, accountants, etc.).

The duration of assignments is limited to 3 years.
